اپنی جولاں گاہ زیر آسماں سمجھا تھا میں

آب و گل کے کھیل کو اپنا جہاں سمجھا تھا میں

 

I thought that my racing track was beneath the skies

I thought that this ordinary play of water and flowers was my universe

بے حجابی سے تری ٹوٹا نگاہوں کا طلسم

اک ردائے نیلگوں کو آسماں سمجھا تھا میں

 

When You unveiled yourself, it broke the spell of universe in front of my eyes

I always thought that these blue skies were end of the universe

کارواں تھک کر فضا کے پیچ و خم میں رہ گیا

مہر و ماہ و مشتری کو ہم عناں سمجھا تھا میں

 

The Caravan of spacely bodies exhausted itself and got lost in time and space

I thought that Sun, Moon and Stars were my companions of the journey

عشق کی اک جست نے طے کر دیا قصہ تمام

اس زمین و آسماں کو بے کراں سمجھا تھا میں

 

One leap of Ishq ended all the stories I knew (by opening new world)

I thought that these heavens and skies were infinite

 

کہہ گئیں راز محبت پردہ داریہائے شوق

تھی فغاں وہ بھی جسے ضبط فغاں سمجھا تھا میں

 

The Keeper of Secret of Love, revealed the secret

That seal over the lover’s woe was itself a lover’s woe too.

 

تھی کسی درماندہ رہرو کی صداۓ درد ناک

جس کو آواز رحیل کارواں سمجھا تھا میں

 

What I thought was a shallow call of the caravan to depart

Was merely a ordinary mournful cry of a traveller.
