Tahseen Sakina rose to popularity via Zulfiqar (Xulfi) Jabbar Khan’s Nescafe Basement through her rendition of Abida Parveen’s famous Ghoom Charkana.
Hailing from Gujranwala, she has been trained by her grandfather Ustad Safdar Hussain, a professional singer and Ustaad.
Tehseen Sakina and Saeen Zahoor performed at Sufi Night Concert at Alhamra Open Air, Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Saturday 31 December 2022.
It was a rather small gathering compared to the larger concerts held at Alhambra Open Air, which added to the intimacy of the performance. Starting with Tahseen Sakina, her covers of Abida Parveen’s tracks enthralled audiences with an excellent live performance of Yar Ko Humne Ja Baja Dekha, Ghoom Charakhra-, and Mahi Yaar Di Gharoli, and Mann Kuntu Maula.
Tehseen was followed by the legendary Saeen Zahoor, who despite in his 80s, sang and danced with his usual fervour. With his loved tracks such as Allah Hoo (Original Version), Ni Main Kamli Aan. Saeen Zahoor was accompanied by his son and grandson, on backing vocals [the grandson kept dancing!].
