Sare La Makan Se Talab Hui: Story of Miraj of Prophet SAW

Sare La Makan Se Talab Hui
Su e Munataha Woh Chalay Nabi

There was a Divine Call from Placelessness
And Prophet went to the edge of Universe [Miraj Sharif]

سر لا مکان سے طلب ہوئی
سویے منتہا وہ چلے نبی [ﷺ]

Night of *Wed 10th* Mar 2021. Fast on *Thurs 11th* Mar 2021.

Miraj is one of the most talked about events in Islam. Isra and Miraj are the two parts of the Night Journey which our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made with his companion the angel Jibrael AS.

The date was 27th of Rajab in the year 721 (Year of sorrow – ‘aam ul-huzn) when Abu Talib and Khadijah (RA) died. Isra and Miraj is mentioned in Surah al-Isra. In Isra, the first part of the night, Jibrael A.S came to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and then he rode on the Buraq, which is larger than a donkey and smaller than a mule.

Miraj: Prophet Muhammad SAW ascent to Heavens

On buraq he traveled from Makkah (Masjid al Haram) to Jerusalem (Masjid Al-Aqsa) in just a second, to be noted, the distance between these two destinations is 1239.45 KM and takes around 1 hour and 52 minutes if you travel by aeroplane, but our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) completed it in just a few seconds.
Now, in the 2nd part of the night, known as Miraj, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) traveled to the 7th heaven, and on each layer of heaven, he met different people during his ascent:

▪️1st Heaven met Adam (AS)
▪️2nd Heaven met Isa (AS) and Yahya (AS)
▪️3rd Heaven met Yusuf (AS)
▪️4th Heaven met Idris (AS)
▪️5th Heaven met Haroon (AS)
▪️6th Heaven met Musa (AS)
▪️7th Heaven met Ibrahim (AS)

Then the Beloved Prophet (PBUH) reached Baitul Ma’mur and Sidrat Al-Muntaha (Where 50 prayers were enjoined on him, then later reduced to 5.)

What is Baitul Ma’mur?

It is a heavenly house, which is located in the 7th heaven, directly above the Kaaba in Makkah (Allah’s house). Angels perform the tawaf of this house like we do around the Kaaba during Hajj and Umrah, the Kaaba on the earth is the replica of it. 70,000 angels visit this house daily and say their prayers there and this practice will continue until the day of Judgement. (Sahih al-Bukhari 3207 and Sahih Muslim 164)

What is Sidrat Al-Muntaha?

It is the Lote tree of uttermost end and it is at the boundary of the 7th heaven. It is the boundary that no one has ever passed except our Prophet (PBUH) and it is the place where the blessed Prophet (PBUH) traveled along with Jibrael, but the angel could not travel any further. Here the Prophet (PBUH) entered the Divine Presence where Allah bestowed the 50 daily prayers upon the Ummah, which the Prophet reduced down to 5 upon meeting Musa AS and returning to the Divine Presence each time.
