English translation 

Everyone pretends to be your friend in times of joy, prosperity and richness

The true friend is who shares your sorrows and does not abandon in times of trouble

 

The fable of Saif-ul-Malook is regarded as the masterpiece of Folk and Sufi poetry. Mian Muhammad Bakhsh was a master narrator who tried to intertwine the story of love and humanity, along with mystical nuances. It also tell of the selfishness nature of material world, in which fair weather friends surround you in time of happiness and prosperity but few true ones stay with you once times go hard.
