The Sufi who carried a woman across the River

The Sufi who carried a woman across the River: Sufi Story

Two dervishes were travelling when they reached a river and met a woman who was desperate to cross it.

One of the dervishes hesitated but the other offered help but letting her travel on his shoulder and carry her cross the water currents.

Once he has crossed, the woman thanks him and left.

As they continued their journey, the first dervish was occupied and distracted by the woman.

“Brother, our mentor asked her to avoid contact with women, but you carried her on your shoulders to cross the river”, he exclaimed

“My friend”, replied the other dervish. “I left her to the other side of the river, but you are still carrying her [and distracted by her thoughts] ”
