Hakim Sinai was a Persian Sufi poet who lived in Ghazni [present day Afghanistan] during 11th and 12 century. He is renowned for his amazing mastery over Persian verse and he used this to write Philosophical and Sufi verses.

His book The Walled Garden of Truth or The Hadiqa is considered in the same league of Rumi’s Masnavi and Saadi’s Gulistan.

Allama Iqbal visited Afghanistan in 1933 and had opportunity to visit Hakim Sinai’s shrine. He wrote a beautiful poem dedicated to Sinai, which was published in Baal-e-Jibreel. Full Urdu text of this poem with explanation is below [with permission and compliments of www.ravimagazine.com.
