Ney Nama: Prelude of Masnavi Maanavi – Lecture by Dr. Babar Naseem Assi

Nay Nama is the most known poem of Masnavi Maanvi and it also the first verses where by Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi begins a exceptional compilation of more than 25000 verses, the greatest literary masterpiece of Farsi.

Ney Nama is written in first person narrative hence the subject is Ney [Human] who is narrating the tale of longing and separation as it laments on the separation from the Ney player [Divine]. This is basically an analogy that Maulana Rumi to describe divine secrets, hence Masnavi is often called the tafseer of Quran in Persian language.

Such tale of love and separation has been elaborated beautifully by eminent scholar at GCU Lahore, Dr. Babar Naseem Assi.
