Ustar Jafar Husayn Khan comes from a family of celebrated traditional musicians of Budaun, a small town in Uttar Pradesh situated on a tributary of the Ganges, approximately one hundred thirty miles south-east of Delhi. Ustad Jafar Husayn Khan possesses many essential qualities of a good Qawwal, including a melodious voice, training in Indian classical music, understanding the texts of the songs, good manners and a keen aesthetic sense of the text’s musicality and expression
